This year's Christmas must have... a ouija board

Ouija Board

Google reports searches for Ouija game boards are up 300% in November as it lists 'hottest' gifts for 2014.Google says the boards are "Likely to sell out this season." That is so unfortunate. Ouija boards show users to contact the dead to get answers to their questions, and invite the spirit world to guide them. Frequently the boards are used by young people - particularly girls - as party activities. As Christians, we are told in the Bible to avoid sorcery and necromancy in both the Old and New Testament.  (See, What are Ouija boards? Should a Christian play with Ouija boards?)

The rise in popularity of Ouija boards is likely to have been sparked by the release of the film Ouija last month.

The low-budget horror film, inspired by the board which is said to contact the dead, tells the story of a group of young girls who reach out to the spiritual world in search of answers about their friend's mysterious death.

It topped the movie charts in the United States and Canada, after collecting $20million in ticket sales alone in its first weekend.

Here is the trailer that Hollywood has subtitled, "Keep Telling Yourself It's Just A Game":

WARNING:This movie trailer is very disturbing, so if you're going to watch it please keep that in mind, and be praying for those who will see this film and will perhaps dabble in the spiritual realm themselves.
