What could Oprah Winfrey, Rob Bell and the Book of Jude have in common? No, it's not an April Fool's Day joke; all three of these are the topic of today's program.
Oprah and Rob are getting ready to do an eight-city "The Life You Want Now" tour, to lead people into what they call an "empathy space." What does that mean, exactly? According to Oprah, it means fulfilling your "purpose," and becoming all that you can be in this life on earth. Bell, who denies the existance of the key doctrine of an eternal Hell, stated that there is a growing sense that when it comes to God, we are at the end of one era and about to start another kinder, gentler mode of understanding - that something new is being birthed.
Those of you who have been following developments of Oprah and Rob systematically attacking the truth of God's Word over the years know that this is not just more of the same, but a ramping up of an agenda to plant the seeds of universalism through narcissistic self esteem. Should we be alarmed? No. In fact, these two are actually the apostates that we are warned about in the Epistle of Jude.
