It's baaack. Only this time The Bible miniseries has been edited down to just the Jesus parts. Reality TV producer Mark Burnett and his wife, actress Roma Downey, have taken footage from their Scripturally problematic History Channel series “The Bible” and partnered with 20th Century Fox to create “Son of God.” Just like last year's miniseries, the new Son of God movie is being widely advertised by partnering with seeker churches to produce bulletin inserts, sermonettes, and other marketing paraphernalia. The movie will be released in theaters nationwide Feb. 28.
Over at Charisma News, the site predicts the movie "will bring the story of Jesus’ life to audiences through the same cinematic storytelling that Fox says has made The Bible the best-selling miniseries of all time." (Do read the comments section there - Christians are waking up to just how rotten the fruit from The Bible is.) Just as a reminder, below are the articles that show how, although The Bible may have been the most-watched miniseries of all time, it points us to a different Jesus and a different Bible narrative than what you find in Scripture.
It's being touted as "a film about Jesus' life that will doubtlessly attract churchgoing Americans." according to an article from the San Antonio Tribune in an article titled, Five films that will make 2014 the year of the Bible.
