Should We Be Using "Climate Change" to Reengage Our Youth?

Back in June of 2013, I reported that The Christian Post was actually promoting earth worship as a way to get engage teens and keep them from leaving the Church. In an article titled, Reversing the Trend of Teens Leaving the Church: Using Climate Change to Reengage Our Youth, Deborah Fikes opines that we can stem the tide of teens abandoning their faith (because of shifting social opinions on gay marriage, premarital sex and abortion), by focusing them instead on the real issues of immigration reform and global warming (er, I mean Climate Change).

Fast forward to June of 2016, and we see this interesting endorsement from Ms. Fikes:

Who is Deborah Fikes? Is she pastorix, a Bible study leader or Christian author? No, her esteemed title is Representative to the United Nations and Executive Advisor for the World Evangelical Alliance. She is also an Ambassador for The Climate Group's Clean Revolution campaign – which mobilizes leaders to address climate change in a way that promotes economic growth and improves quality of life.

As one pro-UN commentor noted: “Pat Robertson, Rick Warren, Billy Graham and  Leith Anderson of NAE all agree with Ms. Fikes here that climate change is real, we helped create it and have a responsibility to address consequences.” The poster was referring to a major lobbying group created in 2006 by a group of 86 notable U.S. evangelical Christian leaders who launched the Evangelical Climate Initiative, a campaign for environmental reform, calling on all Christians to push for federal legislation that would reduce carbon dioxide emissions in an effort to stem global warming.
